Judith Frankfurt, Consultant for H C Smith Ltd, is a seasoned arts administrator with extensive involvement in performing and visual arts organizations. She works in the areas of executive search and recruitment, strategic planning, board development, budgeting and finance, human resources, artistic planning and organizational development. She is skilled in fostering collegial teams for the success of mission-driven strategic growth.
Ms. Frankfurt’s professional experience includes significant tenures as the general manager of the Philadelphia and Cleveland Orchestras, which included senior responsibility for both the operational aspects of orchestra management and the artistic administration and concert programming for these two great orchestras. Prior to her work in Cleveland, Ms. Frankfurt served as the assistant manager of the St. Louis Symphony, responsible for educational activities, touring and the state-wide arts lobby. Most recently, she served as Deputy Director for Administration for the Brooklyn Museum, overseeing all financial, legal, operational and other internal administration of the museum.
Throughout her career, Ms. Frankfurt has served on grant panels and audition committees, and consulted to a wide variety of arts organizations, which have included the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Philharmonic and the League of American Orchestras. She is a graduate of Harvard University.
